This rare snow in the desert North of Chihuahua was a warning...


On the 1st bus into Creel for 3 days due to snow, we were regaled...


About 1/3 down in the canyon, where it gets steep...


I was tired already from starting in the snow, so I stopped for the night...


Moon over oak and rock...


Copper Canyon is deeper and steeper than the Grand Canyon


Next day, the river Urique and the home of Carlos and family...


They tend several hundred orange trees


After barely crossing the swollen river, the view from my cave home for 6 nights.


I'd been in the hot spring 6 hours when...


A lightning storm and flash flood drowned the hot springs


Now the Rio Urique was really swollen...


These 1st days of January, there was only 1 1/2 hrs of sunlight in the cave...


The Raramuri (AKA Tarahumara) Indians here call night “the day of the moon.”


4 days after the storm the springs were just warming up but it was time to go...


I had to swim back across the river. Part of the 1000' high cascades with a cactus flower...
