Fred Hopman, the president of the Taos Solar Energy Association, received a now-expired patent for his "self-insulating water wall," a big improvement on the water walls in the Sherer house. Scroll down and click on "view patent images" (after registering, damnit). This compact, inexpensive absorption/storage/distribution unit tested very efficient but to my knowledge has never been used in a building!
